Divorce means end of marriage i.e. a total separation between a married couple. Divorce also known as dissolution of marriage, is the process of terminating a marriage or marital union. It usually entails the canceling or reorganzing of the legal duties and responsibilities of marriage, thus dissolving the bonds of matrimony between a married couple under the rule of Law.

Divorce Procedure

After the pronouncement of divorce/Talaq in any form by husband, a notice should be submitted to the Chairman Union Council & wife. After receiving the notice, The Chairman will constitute an arbitration council with in 30 days for reconciliation between the parties. If reconciliation efforts fail divorce will be finalized and its details will be entered with NADRA and a Computerize Divorce Certificate will be issued.

Khulla

Khula is a procedure through which a woman can divorce her husband in islam by returning the dower (Mahr) that she received from her husband, or any other amount as agreed between the husband and wife, Khula allows a woman to initiate a divorce through the mutual consent of the husband.

Procedure of Khulla

Simply a women can receive Khulla through filing a case in the Family Court. This case is usually completed in 3 month and can be completed sooner if the husband does not appear in the court. After the pronouncement of Khulla by the court the Union Council provide the copy of the decree. On the failure of reconciliation between the parties. So the Khulla is registered.
